Historic Areas of Conifer Hill Road
Over the years there have been a number of events that have left behind memories for the users of the Road. Here we relate some of the more colorful ones!
“Dodge Kill Hill”

Dodge Kill Hill is the hilly curve that is banked wrong – in toward the hill instead of away from it – because it would take dynamite to get the bedrock down to the point where it could be banked correctly. It’s just before that short turnaround that goes behind the rock above the steep part of two mile hill, after you go through the upper meadow and before you get to Waterloo. (HA! – now – I suppose you want to know how Waterloo got it’s name? And where it is?)Anyway, Kim Moravec (George and Sandy’s eldest daughter) was driving their Dodge up to Conifer Hill one day and it died on that curve. Never to go again. In fact, it got hauled out and thrown away. So – that’s the day we named it “Dodge Kill Hill”.
